k tym biometrickym pasom:Slováci a tiež všetci občania Európskej únie budú od stredy potrebovať na vstup do Spojeného kráľovstva elektronické cestovné povolenie ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation). Čo to pre bratislavské letisko znamená?
Pravdepodobne nápor na to bude v týchto dňoch dosť veľký. Z pohľadu nášho letiska je Spojené kráľovstvo veľmi dôležitá destinácia. Najviac cestujúcich totiž prepravíme do Londýna.
Malo by to byť automatické.
Inak by ho poslali naspäť na vaše náklady a ešte s pokutou.

Where does a biometric passport store my data?
A biometric passport has a number of components. A plastic card is its main part. It contains all common identifiers (name, surname, address, birth number, etc.). When you look closer at it, you will notice that the photo of your face is in black and white, printed on the card. It is created by laser engraving and cannot be removed.
On the right side of the card, there is a small rectangular protrusion with a miniature image of your face and a number shown. An RFID chip is stored there, containing your biometric and control data to ensure the integrity of the information. Most often, it is a digital map of your face, but your fingerprints or iris scan can also be stored there.
It is also difficult to store the verification data on the chip so that it looks plausible. Biometric passports are used to identify so-called Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), where a digital certificate (also called an encryption key) is issued by a certification authority.
In case of counterfeiting, the key would either be invalid or not issued to identify counterfeit data.
The chip data is also protected by other methods. Typically, it is passive verification that reveals changes in biometric data on the chip. It is the hash value of all data electronically signed by the signing key of the country where the passport was issued. If the image on the chip is changed, the hash value will not fit. It will show that the data was falsified.
In addition, in the European Union, the use of so-called Extended Access Control (EAC), which adds chip and reader authentication, is mandatory. This means that only a chip that is genuine can be read, and the reader must be certified and approved to read this data. Also, stronger data encryption is used. EAC’s task is to protect sensitive data, including fingerprints and iris images.
Other optional methods may also be used to prevent or detect attacks, such as portable channel encryption, preventing private key cloning, etc.
How does authentication work?
Automatic biometric passport identification is simple and only takes a few seconds. If you have never tried to go through an automatic gate at the airport because you don’t know what to expect from the process or you’re simply worried you can’t, you do not have to. If you’re unsure how to proceed, do the following:
Insert the plastic card into the reader and look at the camera. The reader scans the card and the security system checks the security features. It instructs the optical data reader to read the chip on the card and verify again that the data is authentic.
If everything is fine and the document is genuine, the face identification system scans your face, verifies biometric data, and checks if you are on a wanted list. After successful authentication, they will let you go through.

After a biometric passport is scanned, it's time to verify the traveler's personal data - this can be done with a face camera, fingerprint scanner, or iris camera. The biometric passport system extracts the traveler's biometrics from their biometric data, which is then compared to the biometrics on file in the passport. If there are any discrepancies between the data provided and that on file, the biometric passport system can alert authorities and prevent fraudulent activity.
Once the traveler's data is authenticated, they will then receive a confirmation message that authorizes them to pass through security. This procedure ensures heightened safety by permitting authorities to swiftly identify any individual who could be an imminent danger or has unlawfully entered another country.
How do biometric passports work?
Biometric passports typically rely on specialized devices, such as kiosks and scanners, to verify a traveler's identity and process their travel documents. These devices may use biometric scanning technology to capture data such as fingerprints or iris scans, which are then compared with data on file in the traveler's passport. If there is a match through passport authentication, the traveler receives approval for travel and can move through border control more quickly and easily.

trepat doslova ko*ot, ze tam niekto nieco zapisuje je totalna sprostostWhat is a biometric passport?
A biometric passport is a technologically advanced passport containing a chip that holds specific biometric information. This e-passport is sophisticated and secure. The RFID microchip is embedded into the passport. Often, the chip in the passport is so small that it is undetectable. Passports are needed to travel between countries and identify you. A biometric passport adds an extra layer of security by containing specific biometric information that can include facial mapping for facial recognition software, fingerprints, or iris scans. Biometrics are physical characteristics that are unique to you and can be used to authenticate identity, Homeland Security explains.
Advantages of an e-passport
An e-passport is convenient and easy to use. Waivers and visas can be electronically linked to the biometric passport, so there is less paper to print and carry around. It ultimately makes it easier to keep track of everything. These are also scannable passports that can reduce time spent waiting in lines to have the passport checked. Many biometric passport countries have electronic passport gates that read the passport’s chip to quickly verify your identity without the need for a manual check. The biggest advantage of a biometric passport, however, is the enhanced security. Biometrics are specific to each person. They are much harder to fake, hack, or steal. This is important, as identity theft and fraud are major concerns, with 4.7 million reports identified by the FTC in 2020. The chip in an e-passport is technologically advanced and uses enhanced security features to prevent data “skimming” or unauthorized reading. Homeland Security details the following advantages of an e-passport:
Protection against identity theft
Secure identification of passport holder
Privacy protection
Harder to alter or forge for illegal entry into the country
Information contained in a biometric passport
A biometric passport will contain the following:
Full name
Date of birth
Photograph (often in a biometric form, such as a 3D map of the face that can be used in facial recognition software)
Biographical information, such as birthplace
Biometric information, which can include fingerprints or iris scans
Unique chip identification number
Digital signature that protects the stored data from being altered

We would like to provide you with important details regarding the travel requirements for your intended destination country to ensure a smooth journey.
Please review the following options to determine which category applies to you and follow the requirements for traveling to the UK:
If you hold a UK visa and use a physical immigration document, such as Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) and Biometric Residence Cards (BRCs), to prove your rights, you should take action now to access your eVisa by creating a UK Visas and Immigration account .
BRPs and BRCs that expired on or after the 31st of December 2024 can also be accepted as evidence of permission to travel to the UK provisionally until the 1st of June 2025.
If you already have an eVisa, please register the passport you intend to use for travel by using UK Visas and Immigration account if it is not already linked to your eVisa.
If you do not require a visa to visit the UK for short stays of up to six months, you will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) at least 72 hours before your departure and pay the fee required by the UK Immigration via the official website.
Additionally, you can check the list of countries that require an ETA to travel to UK on the official UK Government website .
